On June 13th, 2023, we held our inaugural “The Taste of” event, where we feature different countries. This time it was Switzerland. We were honored to welcome the Consul General of Switzerland Urs Broennimann, Trade Commissioner from the Swiss Business Hub USA Kimberly Shulman, and Omar Aleiwi, designated Head of Public Diplomacy & Cultural Affairs.
We greatly appreciated Consul General Urs Bronnimann’s presentation about Switzerland, wherein he provided key insights about the trade relationship between Switzerland and the United States, Switzerland being the 7th largest foreign direct investor into the USA. Also included in the topics of discussion were Switzerland’s direct democracy, Switzerland’s relationship with the European Union, and Switzerland’s stance on the Russo-Ukrainian War. In addition, we were able to taste some great wine from Switzerland. A rare treat since Switzerland only exports 1% of its wine.
We were fortunate to also welcome the former U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland and Lichtenstein, H. E. Ed McMullen, who was able to give us additional insights to the overall relations between Switzerland and the United States.
